This Spanish home on McCadden was a total transformation: a full gut renovation, a new addition, and a dramatic reworking of the floor plan, bringing it to over 4,500 square feet. With a project of that scale, the real challenge was restraint. I wanted every new wall, room, and detail to honor the original bones so the house would feel like it had always been this way.

Arched doorways, the round stair tower, and the home's Spanish character guided every decision, from the proportions of the addition to the materials carried through each room. New spaces were designed to feel like they belonged to the original house, while the layout now supports the way a family actually lives today.

My favorite moment came when the family's son walked past the new fireplace and said, "That was always there, wasn't it?" That's exactly what I set out to do: build something new that feels like it was meant to be.
