The family fell in love with this Culver City home for its original 1960s kitchen. After several years of living in it, they were ready for an upgrade, but not at the expense of the style they had come to love. The goal was to bring everything up to date while staying true to the house's mid-century character.
I approached the renovation with a light hand, carrying the kitchen's clean mid-century lines forward with new cabinetry, lighting, and natural textures in warm neutrals. Then I turned to the parts of the house that had never quite worked. The awkward space behind the fireplace became a proper pantry, and a cozy breakfast nook with built-in storage gave this busy family a place to gather and somewhere to put everything.
The result feels both renewed and familiar: a mid-century home with soul, shaped for real living and ready for its next chapter.
